Applying for a residence permit in Poland is becoming more convenient. As part of the country’s ongoing digitalization of public services, Poland launched the MOS (Moduł Obsługi Spraw) online system on 27 April 2026, allowing foreigners to submit selected residence permit applications electronically.

The new platform is designed to simplify the application process, reduce paperwork, and make communication with immigration authorities more efficient.

What Is the MOS System?

MOS is an online platform that enables foreigners to start the residence permit application process without visiting an office to submit the initial paperwork. Applicants can complete and send their application forms online, making the procedure faster and more accessible.

While the system does not replace the entire process, it significantly reduces the amount of paperwork and saves time during the first stage of the application.

Which Applications Can Be Submitted Online?

Under Article 225a(1) of the Act on Foreigners, the MOS system currently allows electronic submission of applications for:

  • Temporary Residence Permit
  • Permanent Residence Permit
  • EU Long-Term Resident Permit

Applicants can fill out the required forms online and begin the procedure electronically through the platform.

What Still Requires a Visit to the Office?

Although the application can now be submitted online, some parts of the procedure still need to be completed in person at the Voivodeship Office.

Depending on your case, you may be asked to:

  • verify your identity,
  • provide fingerprints,
  • submit original documents or additional evidence.

After submitting your application through MOS, be sure to follow any instructions provided by your Voivodeship Office regarding the next steps.

The launch of the MOS system is an important step toward modernizing Poland’s immigration procedures. While applicants will still need to attend certain appointments in person, the ability to begin the process online makes applying for a residence permit easier, faster, and more convenient than before.
